Your 5- to 6-hour appointment takes place in a premium hospitality setting with chef-curated meals and refreshments to keep you energized between stations. A Medcan physician oversees your day, reviewing your tests and providing same-day results.

Your health, in the palm of your hand. Following your assessment, you'll get a comprehensive, easy-to-review final report with all of your results, right in our app. This gives you a complete picture of your current health, including strengths, areas of opportunity, and potential risks that require action.

you:

What you will experience

Your comprehensive assessment will take place in a single day at our Toronto or Oakville location – no need to schedule multiple appointments with different providers. You will experience a range of innovative screenings including bloodwork, urinalysis, abdominal ultrasound, ECG, fitness testing, and age- and sex-specific tests such as screenings for breast and cervical cancers, prostate cancer, and bone density testing.

Together, these evidence-based screenings evaluate your health across the areas that matter most:

  • Heart
  • Cancer
  • Mind
  • Metabolic
  • Movement
What you will learn

The Annual Health Assessment is about more than test results. It provides a deeper understanding of your health today, with the insights needed to shape a healthier tomorrow. In your same-day physician review, you'll walk through your results in detail, learning where your biomarkers fall within or outside of optimal ranges. You will discuss any risk factors that may be emerging, and opportunities to improve your long-term health. At the end, you’ll receive a personalized action plan tailored to your unique health profile, empowering you to make informed decisions with confidence.

Following your assessment, you'll have access to all of your test results in a detailed report within the myMedcan portal and app. Organized around the Vital Five pillars, your report will provide a clear, wholistic view of your health, helping you better understand your strengths and any areas of concern.

The report will also include your Medcan Health Score, a unique score out of 100 based on 10 of the most important modifiable biomarkers related to health and longevity. More than a number, it is a measurable benchmark that helps you track progress over time and take meaningful steps toward a longer, healthier life.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

The Annual Health Assessment goes significantly deeper than a traditional physical. It prioritizes early detection of disease and risk factors focusing on five key pillars called Medcan’s Vital Five: Heart, Mind, Movement, Metabolic, and Cancer. In one day, you will complete up to 15 screening stations with analysis of more than 100 biomarkers in our welcoming, hospitality-focused environment. You'll enjoy premium refreshments, an elevated setting with curated Canadian art, and a flow built around your convenience.

All tests are completed on-site in one day, rather than going to multiple locations and testing centers. Through our in-house laboratory and team of radiologists, we are able to analyze your results while you’re here so you can receive them same-day.

Unlike many health exams and evaluations, you will get your results at the end of your appointment. A Medcan physician oversees your assessment, provides a physical exam, and delivers an in-depth consultation to review your results in detail. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions about your health and receive personalized recommendations to help you take action where it’s needed most to support both your short- and long-term health.

Your assessment is completed in a single-day appointment, in either our Toronto or Oakville location, and typically takes about 5 to 6 hours. By bringing together a physician exam, nursing evaluations, bloodwork, imaging, fitness assessments, and specialist consultations in one visit, the Annual Health Assessment helps eliminate the need to coordinate multiple appointments across different providers and locations.

Your results are reviewed with you before you leave Medcan. At the end of your appointment, a Medcan physician will walk you through your findings and provide personalized recommendations and next steps.

Within 8 to 10 business days, your results will also be available through the secure myMedcan portal (available online or through the myMedcan app) for future reference and year-over-year tracking. If additional tests are ordered by the physician during your appointment based on the results from one of the standard evaluations, those results may not be available until several days after your assessment.

No. The Annual Health Assessment is not intended to provide a medical second opinion or diagnose existing health conditions.

The assessment provides a detailed baseline of your health and may identify areas that warrant further investigation or follow-up. However, it is not a substitute for specialist care, nor is it intended to confirm, challenge, or replace an existing diagnosis or treatment plan. Your assessment will be conducted by a Medcan physician who will review your results, discuss any findings, and provide personalized recommendations to support your health and wellness goals. If additional evaluation is recommended, you may be advised to follow up with your family physician or an appropriate specialist.

The primary purpose of the assessment is preventive health screening and risk evaluation. However, if the reviewing physician identifies a finding that requires further investigation or urgent follow-up, they may choose to provide a referral at their clinical discretion.

The physician conducting your Annual Health Assessment is not intended to replace your family physician or serve as your ongoing primary care provider. Any recommendations, referrals, or follow-up care resulting from the assessment should be considered within the context of your broader healthcare needs and, where appropriate, discussed with your family physician.

Your Annual Health Assessment results will only be shared with your family physician if you provide consent. If you would like Medcan to send your results to your primary care provider, you can complete a consent form or contact the Annual Health Assessment Team at AnnualHealthAssessmentTeam@medcan.com.

If consent is not provided, your results will remain accessible exclusively through your secure myMedcan portal. You may then choose if, when, and with whom you would like to share your health information.

This approach ensures that you remain in control of your personal health information while allowing for seamless communication with your healthcare providers when desired.

The cost of an Annual Health Assessment is $4250 plus tax. The Annual Health Assessment may be eligible for reimbursement through a Health Spending Account (HSA), depending on your plan's provisions, coverage, and available balance. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your eligibility and reimbursement criteria.

Some employers offer a preferred rate on the Annual Health Assessment through their employee benefits programs, and we are pleased to partner with organizations such as financial advisors, membership clubs, and more, to extend preferred rates to their members or clients. Contact us any time to find out if your employer or another organization you are connected with has a preferred rate with Medcan.
