On December 9th, Canada approved its first COVID-19 vaccine. The COVID-19 Task Force, funded by the Government of Canada, will be collaborating with National Advisory Committee of Immunization (NACI) and together with the provincial Ministries of Health, a strategy will be implemented to administer the vaccine to the Canadian population.

The distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine will be controlled by the Canadian Task Force who will receive a few million doses of the vaccine by early next year, in which prioritization will be given to high risk populations such as residents and staff of Nursing Homes. Currently we have been given no indication of when Medcan will receive the vaccine, but we will continue to provide updates as more information is available.

How we’re keeping you safe

Virtual Services

We’re keeping communities healthy with virtual appointments and nutritious meal deliveries.

Urgent Care

If you require urgent medical attention, emergency appointments can be made at our Year-Round Care clinic and Refine by Medcan.

COVID-19 Screening

Feeling off? Take our COVID-19 screening test.

Medcan is a proud member of the Post Promise program, which demonstrates our commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. From pre-appointment screenings to social distancing protocols, important steps are being taken on-site to ensure a safe experience for our clients and staff members.

Quality air filtration

The HVAC system in our building is equipped with MERV-13 filtration—the highest commercial standard—on all of its air handling units and return air systems. The air on each floor of Medcan is replaced twice hourly at minimum, and in the next few weeks we look forward to introducing an in-duct UV disinfection system throughout the building.

Social Distancing

In addition to limiting our number of in-clinic appointments, we’re removing magazines and spacing out the seating in all of our lounges.

Contactless Payment

Our products and services can now be purchased with major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

To prevent potential exposure to COVID-19, clients and staff are required to wear surgical masks and additional PPE when needed.

For questions or concerns relating to COVID-19, give us a call at 416.350.5900 or chat with a Medcan rep.

As always, the health and safety of our clients and staff members remains our top priority. Here’s what we’re doing to keep you safe on-site.

mandatory mask icon Upon arrival to 150 York, please ensure that you’re wearing a mask or face covering that conceals both your nose and mouth. We ask that you pick up a new surgical mask at the Medcan valet booth (if you are driving) or at Refine by Medcan (located on the ground floor) before entering an elevator. This mask should be worn for the duration of your visit (unless you're instructed otherwise by your physician).
elevator icon There is now a 3-person limit in all elevators. There will be a managed lineup at the elevator bay.
ppe icon All Medcan staff and clinicians will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict physical distancing protocols.
physical distancing icon Physical distancing protocols are firmly in place in our lounges, including spaced-out seating and the removal of magazines.
gym clothes icon We suggest you wear your gym clothes and running shoes to your Annual Health Assessment. You’ll be welcome to check your bag or request a locker on-site. We’ll manage this for you.
spouse icon If you’re attending your appointment with someone (e.g. your spouse), please arrange to have them meet you after your procedure—either in the 150 York lobby or at the Medcan valet booth. To ensure proper transfer of care, a staff member will escort you to meet them.
