Introducing the Galleri® multi-cancer early detection test for eligible Manulife Vitality Plus members*

The Galleri test is a blood test that looks for a signal that could indicate cancer. If a cancer signal is detected, the test can also identify where the cancer may have originated in the body, which can support more efficient follow-up testing. Galleri cannot diagnose cancer, but it could lead to an earlier diagnosis and can help give you better insights into your health.** If a cancer signal is detected on your Galleri test results, Medcan will guide you through follow-up testing and coordinate ongoing care with your family physician.   

It’s generally recommended to talk to your doctor or primary care provider before taking any medical test, however, if you decide to request the Galleri test, you’ll have the option to provide your doctor’s contact information. That way, in the event your test results indicate a cancer signal and diagnostic testing is recommended, your results can automatically be shared with your physician.  

Your privacy is our top priority. Your test results will not be shared with Manulife or Vitality and your results will have no impact on your current life insurance coverage or pricing, or status in the Manulife Vitality program. This offer is completely optional. If you decide not to take the test, there is also no impact on your current coverage, pricing or status in the Vitality program.  

If you make a claim in the future, your test results may be requested if they’re relevant as part of our regular process. And if you apply for new insurance, you’re required to disclose all medical test results, including Galleri.  

At this time, we are not awarding Vitality Points to members who take the Galleri test. The purpose of this offer is to make our customers aware that the Galleri test is available to them, so that they can make the most informed choices about their health.   

Yes, with some important provincial differences.

• British Columbia residents can have their Galleri blood draw completed locally in BC through a Medcan‑authorized phlebotomy partner. Results are reviewed by Medcan, with follow‑up care coordinated locally in BC in collaboration with the members’s healthcare provider.
• Residents of all other provinces outside of Ontario are currently required to travel to Ontario for their Galleri blood draw. While Medcan reviews results, follow‑up referrals and diagnostic testing are not managed outside Ontario, and members are responsible for arranging next steps with their local healthcare provider.
• Medcan is continuing to expand access to Galleri across Canada, including additional options for local blood collection and care coordination. Updates will be shared as expansion progresses.
