Ensure your employees are safe at work with COVID-19 Asymptomatic PCR testing
Medcan has partnered with Switch Health, a leader in COVID-19 testing, to offer your employees safe, fast and reliable polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing—both in your workplace and on-site at Medcan—including guaranteed next-day test results.*
PCR testing is a critical component of your organization’s pandemic response strategy and can ensure a safe workplace for your existing on-site employees and those planning their return.
Contact your Account Manager or email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about our Corporate COVID-19 Asymptomatic PCR testing options and pricing.
Unlike an antibody test, which uses a sample of blood to see if one was previously in contact with COVID-19, a PCR test is a molecular test that uses a nasal swab to determine if they are currently infected.
Individuals who, in the last 14 days, have had no COVID-19 symptoms, zero close contact with someone who has, and haven’t travelled outside of the country.
PCR testing is available at Medcan or in your workplace in multiple city centres across Canada, including Toronto, Calgary, Halifax, Saint John and Moncton.**
All Medcan requires to book COVID-19 Asymptomatic PCR testing in your workplace is the anticipated number of participants, testing date(s) and location(s). A minimum of 30 tests must be booked in order to be eligible for the Corporate rate, and a minimum of six tests must be booked per workplace visit. Please note that we require one week’s notice to book workplace PCR tests.
Medcan and Switch Health will provide all necessary materials for workplace testing. Your organization will only be required to provide a room for testing that’s large enough to allow proper physical distancing. Medcan will also provide any resources your company may need for PCR testing education and/or internal communications, including necessary consent forms.
A trusted laboratory partner will run the swab on a standard PCR testing machine that’s approved by Health Canada, then upload next-day results* to the Switch Health Patient Portal
As soon as their next-day results* are available, participants be notified by Switch Health via text message. If their test results are positive, they will receive a phone call from a Switch Health physician who will notify their local Public Health Unit on their behalf. As their employer, you will also be notified and sent an aggregate summary of results.
*Medcan clients will be required to register for the Switch Health Patient Portal to allow for the requisition of their PCR test, and for results reporting. Next-day reporting of test results is provided solely through the Switch Health portal, and results will be shared before 11:59 p.m. the following day. There may be circumstances which are out of Medcan’s and Switch Health’s control where laboratory turnaround times are greater than next day. On such rare occurrences, Medcan will not provide reimbursements for late results, al- though we will make every effort to notify you of such delays. Rare occurrences include inconclusive results where multiple testing is required, and where the viral load is too low to detect. In the event that you test positive for COVID-19, you will be contacted by a physician from Switch Health to discuss your results and next steps. Switch Health uses a test approved by Health Canada. The test provides a relative measure of viral quantity in a specimen. In the event that you test positive and the quantity reported is lower, certain Public Health units may require a confirmatory test.
**A mileage-based surcharge will be applied to workplace appointments that take place outside the metro areas of Toronto, Calgary, Halifax, Saint John and Moncton.
