Dr. Peter Nord
Chief Medical OfficerDr. Peter Nord is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Medcan Health Management Inc. (Medcan), with accountability for all clinical activities across the organization. Previously, Dr. Nord was a V.P., CMO at Unity Health Toronto, serving on the executive team, which brought together three large Toronto hospitals under the UHT banner. He was Site Lead for Providence Healthcare, one of the three hospitals.
He is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, involved with teaching and research activities, and holds a CCFP / FCFP designation as well as a specialty designation in Sports Medicine.
He previously chaired the Rehabilitative Care Alliance, accountable for improving the quality and efficiency of Ontario’s rehabilitation sector. He was also the provincial Physician Champion for improving patient flow in Ontario’s hospitals. He also founded Stillbrook Accessible Retirement Residences, a charitable organization with a mission to provide affordable senior living to older adults across the province.
Dr. Nord trained at McMaster University and the University of Toronto. He went on to hold senior leadership positions in the US with several health systems and was Medical Director for Anthem BlueCross for several years. For two years, he was President of The Flying Hospital, a non-profit international disaster relief organization.
