Jessica Gu
Clinical Director of Genetics

Jessica Gu is the Clinical Director of Genetics at Medcan and a board-certified genetic counsellor. She earned her master's degree in Genetic Counselling from Northwestern University in Chicago in 2013 and brings diverse experience across pediatric, adult, and laboratory genetics. 

Since joining Medcan in 2015, Jessica has played a key role in advancing the organization’s genetics and personalized health offerings.

In collaboration with Dr. Lea Velsher, Jessica co-authored research demonstrating that approximately one in six individuals who undergo genetic testing uncover clinically significant findings. 

She has a strong interest in personalized and preventative medicine and leads the development and evolution of Medcan’s innovative genetic programs. Jessica is also an active member of the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors.
